The identity of the student involved remains unknown after he was kidnapped along with a woman on Sunday night when armed men stormed his home.
A post on the Esan Political Assembly Facebook page indicated that the abductors later took the student’s life, while information regarding the woman’s situation is still ambiguous.
In a separate incident in Idoa, gunmen captured the secretary to the local palace, along with three children.
A family member, claiming the secretary is his sibling, revealed that the captors have demanded a ransom of N30 million for all the hostages.
He mentioned that the kidnappers have threatened to kill the hostages if the ransom isn’t paid by the end of July 13.
“My brother was taken on Friday morning in Idoa community, within Esan West Local Government Area. He serves as the secretary for the Idoa palace. They are asking for N30 million,” said the family member.

“He was abducted with several young children who happened to be with him. His vehicle malfunctioned on his way to the farm, and he left it where it broke down.
“The following day, he returned to the site with tools and other items to fix the vehicle. While he was there working, armed men emerged from the bushes, surrounded them, and took them away.
“They have made contact demanding a ransom of N30 million and threatened that if we don’t deliver the money by the end of today, they will execute them.
“The children are from his neighbors. They accompanied him to assist with the repairs, and he intended to take them back home once the vehicle was fixed since they live nearby.
