"There Is No Sin": Wike Discusses His Relationship With Fubara

 Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, did not violate any laws by making amends with his political group, according to Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike.

According to KolorsMedia, Wike insisted that the governor's only option was to rejoin the political system that had helped him win.

After examining ongoing road work in the Federal Capital Territory, the former governor of Rivers spoke with reporters on Tuesday.

He rejected claims that Fubara's comeback amounted to a request for pardon following years of political conflict.

"I do not know what you mean by sin," Wike remarked. There is no sin in politics. There is nothing wrong with someone realizing they made a mistake and choosing to fix it.

"Being involved in politics is not sinful. Making the correct choice after realizing you were headed in the wrong direction is what counts.

Wike recalled his earlier prediction that Fubara would eventually make amends with the political dynasty that helped him become governor.

He said that the governor's public statement supported the stance he had taken in an earlier media appearance.

"I remarked during my last media discussion that he had no other alternative but to return to the same political family that spawned him," Wike continued.

"I have just learned that he made that statement in public, and we applaud him." We are open.

"Everyone is invited to collaborate with us. There is not a better option. To advance the state, we will all cooperate.

Shortly after Fubara took office, their relationship deteriorated, leading to a protracted political crisis that split the Rivers State House of Assembly and other political stakeholders.

Tinubu's Votes Will Increase with Reconciliation

Fubara's return, according to the FCT minister, will bolster attempts to rally support for President Bola Tinubu's 2027 reelection campaign.

He said that the political family would now cooperate to give the state to the president.

"He has publicly indicated that he has returned to where he started, and we accept him with an open mind," Wike added. Nothing needs to be concealed.

"We shall all cooperate to make sure we provide President Tinubu the votes he needs to win reelection."

Wike made the remarks while supervising senior FCT Administration officials during an examination of significant road developments, such as the Apo-Karshi Road and the ISEX Road Corridor.

Both projects, according to the minister, are critical infrastructure that may open up significant portions of the capital and promote economic growth.

He said he was pleased with the ISEX Road's progress and that work started as soon as Tinubu officially opened the project at events commemorating his administration's third anniversary.

Wike claims that the contractor has given the FCT Administration assurances that significant work will be finished in time for the project's December commissioning.

The contractor hopes to finish in December.

Despite being awarded in 2014, the 10-kilometer road project—which includes interchanges—remained unfinished under succeeding administrations.

According to Wike, if sufficient cash is released, the contractor has committed to finishing six kilometers of the road and significant interchanges by the end of the year.

"We have appealed to the Minister of Finance because the project is already included in the national budget," the minister stated.

"The contractor will be able to make the deadline if a portion of the monies are released."

The road, according to the minister, is a significant project that will increase mobility within the city and change the FCT's appearance.

According to Wike, the administration's dedication to finishing inherited projects was proven by the almost finished Apo-Karshi Road and the anticipated delivery of the ISEX Road.

He remembered that there were a number of shelved projects strewn throughout the FCT when In 2023, the Tinubu administration came into power.

He claims that in order to safeguard public funds already invested in them, the President instructed the FCT Administration to finish feasible inherited projects.

Instead of giving up on initiatives started by earlier administrations, Wike contended that good leadership necessitated continuity.

"Some people assume office and swear they would solely focus on programs they launched," he continued. Leadership is not like that.

"Good leadership means carrying out projects that are essential to the city's development, projects that benefit the economy and change the scenery.

"We are happy with the contractors' progress. In order for them to finish these projects on time, it is now our duty to fulfill our own commitments.
