Colonel Abdussalam Ude was slain after gunmen stormed his residence in Phase Five Army Housing Estate, Kurudu, Abuja, according to the Defense Intelligence Agency.
According to DIA spokesman J.E. Oti, Ude was killed during a gunfight with the attackers on Monday, July 27, at around 10:45 p.m.
Before Ude's funeral at Mambilla Mosque on Tuesday, investigators started a thorough investigation, according to the agency, while his wife, driver, and security guard were hurt and admitted to the hospital.
Colonel Abdussalam Ude, one of the Defense Intelligence Agency's (DIA) senior officers, was killed after an attack on his home at the Phase 5 Army Housing Estate in Kurudu, Abuja.
According to KohlorsMedia, Ude allegedly lost his life in a gunfight with armed individuals who were trying to kidnap him from his house.
The attack also injured his wife, driver, and security guard, who were sent to the hospital for medical attention.
The DIA said in a statement released on Tuesday night that the officer's home was attacked by unknown attackers on Monday, July 27 at approximately 10:45 p.m.
J.E. Oti, the agency's acting assistant director of protocol, signed the statement.
"Every effort is being taken to identify, arrest, and prosecute those responsible, and security and law enforcement agencies have begun a complete investigation into the event," the agency stated.
In order to determine the circumstances surrounding the homicide, the DIA further stated that it was collaborating with pertinent security authorities.
The statement went on, "The agency is working closely with the relevant authorities to ensure that the circumstances surrounding the occurrence are thoroughly probed."
Ude was a dedicated officer who served the nation with "extraordinary dedication, professionalism, and unflinching commitment" to national security and defense, according to the intelligence agency.
Additionally, it offered condolences for the loss to his family, coworkers, and military personnel.
Ude held a number of important military intelligence and counterterrorism positions prior to his passing.
In addition to serving on foreign intelligence duties in France and Chad, he took part in operations against rebels in the Northeast.
According to reports, the late Enugu State-born officer was scheduled to be promoted to brigadier general in 2027.
According to Islamic customs, his funeral was set for Tuesday at Abuja's Mambilla Mosque.
