Inspector Tanko Musa and Inspector Ajubi Onah, two police inspectors, were killed when they were struck at the NDA intersection in Kaduna by a Toyota Hilux that was purportedly driven by a Nigerian soldier.

The officers were knocked down by the speeding Hilux on Thursday when they were crossing on foot in Kawo Division, according to a source who spoke to SaharaReporters; however, the allegation of intoxication was not confirmed.

The driver's unit is still unclear, the soldier has apparently not been detained, and neither the Nigerian Army nor Kaduna State Police Command have released remarks as of the filing.

At the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) intersection in Kaduna State, a Toyota Hilux purportedly driven by a Nigerian soldier struck two police inspectors, killing them.

According to reports, the event happened on Thursday in Kaduna's Kawo Division.

Inspectors Tanko Musa and Ajubi Onah of the Kawo Police Division were named as the deceased officers.

The police officers were allegedly struck by the fast car while they were crossing the street on foot, according to a source cited by SaharaReporters.

"Black moments for Kaduna's Kawo Division." The source stated, "We just lost two personnel, Tanko Musa and Ajubi Onah, as they were crossing as pedestrians at the NDA intersection in Kaduna and were struck down by a Toyota Hilux van driven by an intoxicated soldier."

As of the time this story was filed, the allegation that the driver was drunk had not been independently confirmed.

Supporters gathered at the scene, according to a video purportedly taken after the collision.

Neither the Nigerian Army nor the Kaduna State Police Command had released an official statement regarding the collision.

Additionally, the soldier's identity and unit were not immediately known.

The most recent collision comes after deadly incidents involving military vehicles in Kaduna and other regions of the nation.

A soldier stationed at a roadblock in Zaria is said to have driven against traffic in March 2025, knocking down and killing a commercial motorcyclist.

In a same vein, a military Hilux lost control and slammed into a roadside store in Kano in December 2024, killing two people.
