Joseph Tegbe, Minister of Power, revealed on Friday that President Bola Tinubu's administration intends to stop paying subsidies in the power sector starting in 2027.

Speaking at a media interactive session, Tegbe ruled out pricing increases right now and stated that the subsidy will be eliminated without depriving Nigerians of advantages.

Nigerians would soon see noticeable improvements in the country's electrical supply, Tegbe promised, adding that the government is working nonstop despite industry difficulties.

According to KohlorsMedia, Joseph Tegbe, the Minister of Power, revealed this on Friday during an interactive media event.

Speaking about the debt in the power sector, Tegbe stated that although the subsidy will be eliminated, Nigerians will still receive advantages.

Additionally, the minister reaffirmed that there is no urgent plan to raise tariffs.

Tegbe has promised Nigerians that the country's electrical supply will soon undergo major upgrades.

He said that the administration is working nonstop to solve the problems facing the industry.

Although there is not a magic bullet that will instantly repair the power industry, he warned that Nigerians will soon recognize the efforts being made by the current administration.

We are all aware that this industry faces some difficulties, and the current administration is working hard to address these issues. People may not value it now, but they will in the near future," he stated.

He claims that efforts are being made to guarantee Nigerians have better energy services, and President Tinubu has made large investments in the industry in recent years.

Nigerians will soon witness noticeable changes, he promised, despite the sector's significant hurdles.
