According to APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, he had a friendly meeting with Mrs. Hamsatu Adamu, the PDP Deputy National Women Leader in Kabiru Turaki's faction.
Despite their political disagreements, Yilwatda stated in a Friday post on his 𝕏 account that they talked about Nigeria's future and national unity.
The chairman of the APC stated that peace, stability, and advancement must continue to be a shared goal and that he intends to meet with leaders of other opposition parties in the future.
Nentawe Yilwatda, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), revealed that he recently met with Mrs. Hamsatu Adamu, the deputy national women leader of the Kabiru Turaki-loyal Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a message posted on his 𝕏 account on Friday, Yilwatda stated that their conversations centered on Nigeria's future and the necessity of national unity.
Beyond political disagreements, he continued, they agreed that Nigeria's peace, stability, and advancement must continue to be a shared priority.
"I had a friendly meeting with Mrs. Hamsatu Adamu, the Deputy National Woman Leader of the PDP National Working Committee, which is led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki.
"We talked about Nigeria's future and the necessity of maintaining national unity. We decided that the peace, stability, and advancement of our country must continue to be our top priorities, regardless of political differences," he said.
Additionally, the APC Chairman alluded to future discussions with leaders of other opposition parties.
He continued, "I am dedicated to including all patriotic Nigerians in the common effort of building a stronger, more united, and more prosperous Nigeria."
Amidst the party's ongoing leadership turmoil, a group of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reportedly submitted the name of former President Goodluck Jonathan to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
According to KohlorsMedia, the faction's Interim National Working Committee, headed by Kabiru Turaki (SAN), said that in accordance with the Electoral Act 2026, it manually submitted Jonathan's name together with that of its candidates for governorship, the National Assembly, and the state House of Assembly.
Ini Ememobong, the Interim National Working Committee's National Publicity Secretary, stated at a press conference late on Thursday that INEC acknowledged receiving the documents even though it had purportedly refused the group access to electronic submission codes.
Ememobong insisted that the faction is the PDP's true leadership, claiming that the party was left without a legally recognized national leadership as a result of a Supreme Court ruling.
He claims that the development led to a meeting of the National Executive Committee and the party's Board of Trustees, which were called by members to create a temporary leadership structure.
